Endura uses two forms of carbohydrates in its Rehydration Formulations for improved carbohydrate absorption. Maltodextrin and microcrystalline fructose (fruit sugar) provide a source of both rapid and sustained release carbohydrates for immediate and sustained energy. Maltodextrin readily breaks down in the intestine to release glucose, a highly bioavailable form of carbohydrate.[1], [2] Fructose is absorbed into the body via a different transport channel to glucose. This means that ingesting a combination of fructose and glucose (from maltodextrin) will allow more carbohydrate to be absorbed. It has been shown that ingesting glucose alone results in a carbohydrate absorption rate of 1.0 g/min; while a combination of fructose and glucose allows a higher rate of carbohydrate absorption at 1.5 g/min. [3] Consuming maltodextrin as a source of glucose together with fructose can therefore provide more carbohydrates to muscles compared to ingesting the same amount of glucose alone, to provide more fuel and potentially a greater positive impact on performance.

Electrolytes and Magnesium
As well as sodium and potassium which are essential for rehydration, Endura incorporates Meta Mag® Magnesium to help prevent muscle cramping and spasms and reduce aches and pain. Meta Mag® is a magnesium diglycinate (amino acid chelate) which is absorbed up to eight times more than magnesium oxide. This enhanced absorption also means there is less chance of gastrointestinal disturbance associated with magnesium supplementation.
Carbohydrates for Energy
Endura also contains 20 g of carbohydrates for energy. As the body can only absorb a certain level of carbohydrates per hour, Rehydration Performance Fuel use two forms of carbohydrates to increase carbohydrate absorption in the gut.
Endura Energy Fuel has been reformulated and relaunched as Endura Performance Fuel, with a better tasting profile. Endura Performance Fuel is formulated using the same winning ratio of 6% carbohydrates, but has been refined for a more competitive mix of electrolytes with increased levels of sodium and reduced levels of potassium, whilst still featuring the exclusive Meta Mag to maintain active hydration during intense exercise. Endura Energy Fuel has now been discontinued so please look for Endura Performance Fuel in stores nationally to help you train harder, race faster and recover quicker.
